THE REWILDING OF UNCLE DAD

from £10.00

What happens when the structures inside us collapse?

A man goes to work. Again. And again. Even when there’s no work for him to go to. In the reflections of office windows, in the slow climb of escalators, in the soft rustle of plants in a pocket-sized city garden, Uncle Dad repeats the rituals that hold his world together.

The Rewilding Of Uncle Dad is a brand new interactive sound walk asking what the collapse of the structures we have grown up with means for our ‚wild‘ selves.

Thursday 18th June - Saturday 20th June

Part father, part worker, part ghost in the machinery of late capitalism, Uncle Dad can turn any corner of the city into an office. But routines slip. Systems glitch. Typing, rustling, humming all slide into other sounds —until the daily grind becomes something other, something new.

Under the neat surfaces of work and order, something restless and unruly begins to grow.

The Rewilding Of Uncle Dad is an interactive sound walk with live field recording and elements of collective play which asks if wildness lies under the civilized surfaces of our lives, and what will happen if we entice it out.

This piece was made with support from artists Nigel Barrett and Louise Mari, Mammalian Diving Reflex, Silvia Mercuriali and institutions Arts Council England, La Fabrique Autonomme des Acteurs, London Fieldworks and ZKU Berlin.

Running Time Approx 70 minutes

About BAIT

Bait is a critically-acclaimed performance company working out

of the UK and Berlin. Since 2017 they have performed their work

at festivals and venues across the UK and Europe.

Founders and co-artistic directors Michelle Madsen and Lizzy

Margereson both studied Lecoq‘s physical theatrical pedagogy

and now make work which takes the principles of play and the

poetic body and applies them to a genre-busting body of

award-winning work.

From queer cabaret, to live interactive online immersive shows,

to psychogeographic audio pilgrimages, Margereson and

Madsen question dominant narratives through their ‚wildly

exuberant‘ and ‚heroically unshaven‘ physical, sonic and visual

languages.
